Parish Council

 

The purpose of the Parish Council at Immaculate Conception Parish is to further pastoral ministry of the Church.  We carry this out through prayer and service.  The Parish Pastoral Council  is an advisory committee to the Pastor.  In accordance with the Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council Diocesan Norms and Bylaws, the name of the organization shall be “Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council of Clarksburg, West Virginia.” A Parish Pastoral Council embraces all the elements of parish life and establishes appropriate structures to assist the parish/mission to fulfill its ecclesial mission. 


The purpose of the pastoral council is to:

1.     Further pastoral ministry of the Church in Immaculate Conception Parish. It is summed up in the words of the Our Father: (Matthew 6:10): “…thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth...” in Immaculate Conception Parish. We will seek to carry this out by prayer and service.

2.     Coordinate and direct the service for Christ and His kingdom.

3.     Be the consultative body to the pastor for all matters of the parish, including but not limited to the spiritual, educational, and social, except to the extent limited by Church law, faith and moral civil law and diocesan policy, e.g., the Parish Finance Council.

4.     Serve as a medium through which the insights and concerns of the total parish community can be brought before the clergy and laity alike.

5.     Be a vehicle through which the whole parish can be involved in the religious and secular realities of the community.

6.     Attempt to reflect to the pastor the temper, opinions and needs of the whole parish.


The meetings of the Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council will be held monthly on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 pm, or another agreed upon date/time.
