OCIA

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a journey to welcome people into the Catholic faith.  The OCIA program presents the teachings of the Catholic Church, spiritual support, and prayer for adults (and children over the age of eight) discerning their call to join the Catholic Church and to prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation.

OCIA is a series of rites that are conducted in the context of learning about the Catholic faith.  This education and spiritual formation leads individuals to become fully incorporated into the Body of Christ, the Catholic Church.

OCIA is for individuals who:

1) are not baptized who want to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist;

2) were baptized in another faith who want to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist;

3) don't want to join the Catholic Church but are curious as what Catholics believe;

4) are Catholic and want to be updated.

The OCIA program here at Immaculate Conception parish begins in the fall with weekly classes held very Thursday, at 7:00 pm and continues a couple of weeks after the Easter Vigil.   For more information on the OCIA program, contact Fr. Casey Mahone at kcinwv89@gmail.com

An informal gathering will be held in the Parish Center at 7 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
